2016 CARNIVAL AT ST MARK’S ‘IN SAFETY’

An operational meeting of the provincial committee for safety and order at the prefecture yesterday, in view of the 2016 Carnival, decided that the Square will be divided into quadrants with five accesses and transit corridors to ensure safety. So a protected Square that, if necessary, can be closed and controlled by an on-site control box and by an increase in police numbers. The decision is justified by the prefecture because of the ‘overall international scenario’ but also because of recent events in Cologne, Germany, during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
