ACQUA GRANDA: WORKS FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE FLOOD OF 4 NOVEMBER 1966
In the past few days La Nuova Venezia has summarised the various events planned to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the flood of 4 November 1966 with a detailed article by Enrico Tantucci. Economics, restorations and the hydrogeological aspects related to the launch of the Sistema Mose will be discussed. Professor Amerigo Restucci, former rector of the IUAV, will coordinate all the various events on behalf of the city council. The opening theme will be that of economics and then, at the request of the mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro, the opening conference at the Doge’s Palace will look at the question of refinancing under the Special Law for Venice. On 4 November there will be a solemn mass in St Mark’s basilica and ‘Acquagranda’, an opera commissioned from Filippo Perocco and based on the novel by Roberto Bianchin will be staged at the Teatro alla Fenice. The Associazione Piazza San Marco has also joined the technical forum set up for the occasion and is working on a specific project that will involve the whole city from 4 November: a dispersed, travelling exhibition in the businesses taking part entitled ‘Acqua in Piazza’. All the news on the activities taking place in view of the fiftieth anniversary of the flood, 1966-2016, will be updated on this site.
