CORRER MUSEUM: THE ‘FRANCESCO GUARDI (1712-1793)’ EXHIBITION OPENS

The prestigious Francesco Guardi (1712-1793) exhibition opens at the Correr Museum in Venice on Saturday 29 September marking the third centenary of the artist’s birth. The monographic exhibition on the last 18th-century view painter is promoted by the Fondazione dei Musei Civici di Venezia and aimed at highlighting ‘his overall artistic production, from the less well known early figure works to the interior scenes in the style of Pietro Longhi, and ending with the splendid views of Venice and the fanciful capricci dating from the years of his maturity and old age’. The St Mark’s area is thus enriched by a new and important cultural offering for tourists and Venetians. The exhibition will be open every day from 29 September 2012 to 6 January 2013, from 10 am to 7 pm.
