EARTH HOUR 2013 - IN ST MARK’S SQUARE TOO
Earth Hour, the biggest global event organised by the WWF against climate change and to encourage a more sustainable lifestyle, also returns to Venice on 23 March 2013.
Venice City Council - the Environmental Office, the Environmental Education Service and the Fondazione Civici Musei will take part.
The programme for the event organised locally by the WWF Veneto involves the lights being switched off in the Procuratie and the Doge’s Palace in St Mark’s Square from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. At the same time a group of volunteers from all over the Veneto will light lamps with the WWF symbol.
ASD Nordic Walking Mestre is also organising a walk that starts at 7.30 pm (rendezvous at 7.15) from the Sant’Elena ferry stop, follows the Riviera Sette Martiri and the Riva degli Schiavoni and ends in St Mark’s Square.
Some St Mark’s Square businesses will take part (Caffè Quadri and Caffè Lavena) along with the advertising space licensee ReMedia International limited and IWC watches.
