RIALTO BRIDGE: THE RESTORATION WILL INDIRECTLY AFFECT THE SQUARE

The call for tenders to find a sponsor prepared to pay 5,000,000 euros for restoration of the Rialto Bridge will be made at the end of September, as announced at a press conference by the Venice city council’s councillor for public works, Alessandro Maggioni. The winner will be allowed to advertise its brand, with specific restrictions, in one of the most famous places in the world. The company that wins - well informed sources say that Renzo Rosso and his Diesel brand are in pole position - will also have the right to organise a benefit event in St Mark’s Square and two in the Doge’s Palace. So, although indirectly, the restoration of the Rialto Bridge will also affect the St Mark’s area.
