ST MARK’S SQUARE HOSTED THE BIG PAUL MCCARTNEY CONCERT 40 YEARS AGO

Last Sunday some Beatles fans belonging to the ‘Beatlesiani d’Italia Associati’ association met in St Mark’s Square to recall with music, banners and posters the concert with Paul McCartney (in the photo arriving by gondola) accompanied by Wings held forty years ago in the square for Unesco. The Beatles fans were brought together by Rolando Gambelli, known for having set up a museum in Brescia dedicated to the musical art of the famous English band. Lots of tourists took part in the rally, reports the Gazzettino, singing and dancing to McCartney’s music, while Giambelli reminded the journalist Tulio Cardona of an episode ‘that saddened Paul McCartney: during the transport of the big stage some stone paving slabs in the square were broken and there were some who got angry with the great musician as if it were his fault’.
