THE SU E ZO' PER I PONTI INVADES ST MARK’S SQUARE

A fine, mild and sunny day accompanied almost 12,000 people on the “Su e Zò per i ponti”, in which St Mark’s Square once again played a leading part. The numerous participants in the event, also from outside the city and region, began arriving in Venice and its symbolic place from early morning to run or walk the course of this traditional sporting appointment. Many families, running groups, schools and sports clubs enriched the event with cheerfulness and colour. The arrival in a beautiful and shining square where tourists applauded the participants in this event was exciting for all; and where, at least for a few hours, the illegal hawkers left room for the many Venetians, adults and children, tired but happy to arrive in “their” square.
