THE VENICE MARATHON ACROSS THE SQUARE

The marathon celebrates 25 years this year. This important anniversary will be celebrated with a special race, unique in the history of the event. For the first and only time, the route of the race will be from Villa Pisani (Stra) to the heart of Venice to Riva Sette Martiri, and then across the Piazza San Marco - a "lap of honor" already planned twelve months ago, but missed due to the usual Venetian problem of High Water. The 42 km ‘Venetian’, which now includes 7,000 participants, was started in order to merge one of the most beloved and fragile cities in the world with a classic and fascinating sporting event in the firm belief that this would allow people yet another way of interpreting Venice while experiencing the thrill of a marathon.
