VENICE AND ITS SQUARE READY TO HOST THE 27TH VENICE MARATHON

The 27th Venice Marathon was presented yesterday by the president of the club of the same name, Piero Rosa Salvo, in a crowded press conference at the Venice casino. It starts at 9.15 on Sunday 28 October at Villa Pisani in Stra and finishes on the Riva dei Sette Martiri in Venice, with a striking, prestige section through St Mark’s Square. One peculiarity recalled at the presentation, which few can allow themselves, is that of letting the more than 8000 entrants in the race run through such a famous and important monumental and historic area. Indeed, partly because of the special environment and urban fabric in which the race is set, the number of entries has noticeably increased, forcing the organisers to actually close entries some months early. A show and plenty of healthy enthusiasm that will involve Venice and its Square. The race will be broadcast live from 10 am on channel La7 and not Rai as in previous years.
