WAGNER ITINERARIES AND ST MARK’S SQUARE

Five themed itineraries entitled ‘Wagner’s Venice’ were presented by AVA (Associazione Veneziana Albergatori) in association with PromoVenezia and supported by the Venice city council’s tourism office. As known, the composer was greatly struck by the city during his stay and the emotions aroused inspired some of his works. Five guided itineraries are offered, for a fee, around the places most loved by the composer along the Grand Canal and in Castello, Cannaregio, San Polo, Dorsoduro and San Marco. St Mark’s Square and its surrounds struck Wagner with all its beauty and he loved to stop in the Caffè Lavena to rest after his long walks. The historic cafe in the Square is one of the places indicated on one of the itineraries. This admirable initiative has been approved by the Venice city council.
